Wallace & Gromit Director Begins Production on Early Man

Опубликовано: 05.10.2016

Starting way back in 1989 with the first short film starring the eponymous English tinkerer and his beloved canine companion, fans of British stop motion animation director Nick Park have been intimately acquainted with the Wallace & Gromit feature franchise. Based out of Aardman Animations studio in Bristol, Park has managed to establish an empire in the entertainment industry to match the likes of Pixar, DreamWorks, Illumination Entertainment, and Laika in the US.

Despite suffering a fire in 2005 that destroyed over 30 awards collected over the years by the company – in addition to various props, models, and scenery built for use in the production of several films – Aardman has managed to soldier on. Following the releases of the computer generated holiday feature Arthur Christmas in 2011 and the 3D stop motion production The Pirates! Band of Misfits in 2012, the director of Wallace & Gromit is calling the shots on Aardman’s next project, in the form of Early Man.

As featured in the footage above, production has officially started on Park’s latest feature-length effort in the form of the prehistoric comedy Early Man. Centering around the exploits of original characters Dug and Hognob, the new Aardman film is set to revolve around the former protagonist’s efforts to rally his tribe against the Bronze Age in a series of battles and skirmishes in which brains will undoubtedly conquer brawn.

With Eddie Redmayne (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) having already added his name to the cast of voice actors as Dug, work on Early Man is all set to move forward in earnest as more premiere voice talents are added. The new movie will be the second Aardman feature film distributed by StudioCanal following the theatrical release of Shaun the Sheep Movie last year.

Serving as the first animated feature film that Park has directed since the Oscar-winning Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 2005 – in addition to the short film Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death in 2008 – it will be exciting for fans of Aardman and Park to see another one of their movies, in the form of Early Man. It remains to be seen how well Dug and Hognob will serve as another daring duo to match the likes of Park’s other man and beast unit; though by the looks of things. fans of the Wallace & Gromit franchise will soon be greeted by another lovable film property from Aardman.

Screen Rant will keep you updated with any information related to Early Man.
