Valerian Sneak Peek Promises Trailer in 5 Days

French director and writer Luc Besson is, without a doubt, a key piece in science fiction cinema. With films like Nikita and The Fifth Element, Besson has won a place in the world of sci-fi and has built a solid fanbase, always alert to what he will create next. His most recent approach to the genre is not a creation of his, but the adaptation of the French comic book Valérian and Laureline.

Titled Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, the film is scheduled for a July 2017 release, and to get the hype going, Besson and company revealed select footage and images at this year’s San Diego and New York Comic Con, and luckily for all of us (and especially those who were not able to attend these conventions) the first teaser trailer will arrive in a few days.

Through the official Twitter account for the film (and with a very short video), EuropaCorp announced that the first glimpse at Valerian, Laureline, and company will arrive on November 10. The video shows Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) in their space suits, with a big number 5 on the right to remind us that the countdown to the teaser trailer has begun.

Based on the comic series written by Pierre Christin, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets follows spatio-temporal agent Valerian and his colleague, Laureline, who under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), embark on a mission to the intergalactic city of Alpha – an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all over the universe. While most of Alpha’s inhabitants have united their talents and resources for the betterment of all, there are unseen forces at work which place our race in big danger. Also starring are Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman, and Kris Wu.

The footage shown and San Diego and New York Comic Con featured unfinished VFX scenes, as post-production has been said to take a year due to all the details required, so the final result – if they add bits from the previously shown footage – will be as surprising to the audiences that attended the panels as it will be to the rest. Hopefully, this teaser trailer will show those characters we haven’t seen in previously released images and whose identity has been kept under wraps, such as Ethan Hawke and John Goodman’s characters.
