Logan Trailer #2 Has Been Rated & Should Arrive Soon

Опубликовано: 08.12.2016

The future of the X-Men series is currently in flux, as it remains unclear what the larger game plan is following the release of the 1980s-set X-Men: Apocalypse. Things are moving forward however, with a ’90s-set X-Men film, a New Mutants movie from Josh Boone (which recently had some exciting pre-viz footage release online) and Deadpool 2 all currently making their way down the pipeline. Meanwhile, the next X-film due to hit theaters is Logan, an R-rated final outing for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Logan marked itself out as one to watch with a very impressive teaser trailer at the end of October that promised a more wounded, violent take on the character and an almost indie-movie vibe in stark contrast to comic book-y bombast of Bryan Singer’s Apocalypse. The film sees the majority of mutants wiped out in the near future, with an aging Logan and Professor X (Patrick Stewart, also reprising his iconic role) on the run from the cyborg Reavers and trying to keep young mutant Laura (aka female Wolverine X-23) safe.

It looks like we won’t have to wait too long for our next look at the movie. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) have classified a new trailer for the film 12A (the UK PG-13 equivalent). The trailer itself will run at 1 minute 31 seconds and passed without any alterations being made to achieve the rating. It’s worth nothing that while the BBFC calls it “Trailer 3″, that’s only because of there being U.S. and international versions of the first trailer – with the latter having slightly more violence.

With the trailer classified now, we’re likely to see it released before the end of the year, probably attached to 20th Century Fox’s final big tentpole of 2016, Assassin’s Creed, which arrives in U.S. theaters on December 21st. The second Logan trailer will presumably make its way online before then, meaning that we could be seeing it within the next week or so.

Based on what’s been teased about the film on social media, there’s expected to be more establishment of the Reavers, led by Boyd Holbrook’s Donald Pierce, in the upcoming Logan trailer. This specific theatrical preview shouldn’t have too much in the way of violence though, seeing as it revived a 12A rating in the UK (meaning the R-rated aspects of the film won’t be that prominent).

Even if it’s not soaked in blood, a new Logan trailer is still very exciting. Much of the hype for 2017’s superhero offerings has focused on Marvel Studios of late – with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘s plot-lite trailer breaking records and Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s soon-to-arrive trailer reigniting interest in the web-crawler. This move will ensure that Fox keep things focused on Logan; which is very important given that, arriving in March, it will be the first major comic book film release of next year.
