Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk Video Explores Ang Lee’s 3D Drama

Опубликовано: 14.10.2016

Based on the novel of the same name that was written and published by Ben Fountain in 2012, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk is the latest drama film from Oscar-winning director Ang Lee (Life of Pi). Set during the events of one day in the life of Iraq War Veteran Billy Lynn (Joe Alwyn), the film is set to explore themes of brotherhood, the commercialization of war, and the disconnect between those serving in the armed forces and their families at home – taking obvious thematic cues from the original book, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction in its respective year of publication.

Given how visually stunning Lee has proven himself to be as a director who consistently seeks to implement cutting-edge technology into his filmmaking techniques, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk already promises to be a cinematic spectacle unlike anything that’s ever been seen before. Shot at a frame rate of 120 frames per second in 3D, Lee’s latest Oscar contender is meant to look far more realistic than anything he has attempted in the past – a fact that can be further attested to in the latest behind the scenes featurette.

In the footage featured above, distributor TriStar Pictures promises potential viewers of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk a “particularly singular cinematic experience” that seeks to tell the first drama film using the most revolutionary 3D technology available. Drawing attention to Lee’s dedication to exploring where the medium of film can go, the cast and crew appears certain that Lee’s latest feature-length effort will wow and impress audiences with its spectacular visuals – all of which have been shot at a frame rate of 120 frames per second – thus allowing the viewer to become more fully immersed in the drama unfolding within the movie proper.

Fans of Lee’s past work on such films as Brokeback Mountain from 2005 and Life of Pi from 2012 know that the premiere filmmaker is more than a critically applauded filmmaker, but also an unparalleled and personal storyteller. Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk may very well be the director’s most ambitious work to date.

The intimated depths of human emotion and social consciousness on display thus far from Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk make the new film look like one of the most original new feature-length productions to see theatrical release in 2016. In short, it’s looking pretty clear that Lee’s latest production is an experience that you won’t want to miss out on.

Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk will see theatrical release in the U.S. on November 11, 2016.
